Factors that affect the React developer hourly rate
-
To determine how much to pay a developer, or how much to charge the firm if you are a developer, you’d have to take into account certain factors. Broadly speaking, the main factors that determine the React developer hourly rate are as follows:
Location
As with most jobs, a developer in a region with a higher cost of living would charge more than one where it’s cheaper to reside. So, React developer hourly rates in Canada and the USA are up to 10x more than those in regions in Asia or Africa.
Experience
A senior developer, who has a higher number of years of experience would charge more than a junior developer with the same skills and in the same region.
Expertise
A React developer who has experience in other technologies along with ReactJS would charge more than someone whose skillset is limited to ReactJS. For example, a developer who knows NodeJS or any other skill that is also highly in demand, would be able to contribute more to the firm, and hence be paid more.
Project complexity and duration
A more complex project that needs the developer to have better skills would pay a much higher hourly rate than one with a lower level of complexity. For example, if as a developer, you are required to only build a single landing page, the hourly rate would be less than that of someone who’s got to build a complex shopping app.
Company type
Service companies work on projects for other companies, and generally pay a lower hourly rate than product companies. The size of the company could also affect the rate.
If you want to hire React developers, then getting the best price can be tricky, but due amount of research can help with this.
ReactJS Developer Hourly Rate By Location
In the earlier graph, we discussed the rates in the US alone. However, as we’ve seen in the factors that affect these rates, the rates in other countries also vary greatly. In the UK and US, the average hourly rates range between $25 to $40, whereas in Africa, these rates are as low as $2/hr.
However, while the rates vary greatly, the quality of developers does not necessarily vary based on location, and you can find great React developers in all regions. Head over to this page if you need help finding a React developer at the best rate.

ReactJS Developer Hourly Rate VS Other Technologies
We mentioned above that knowledge of more than one tech can help a developer earn better. However, this graph shows how ReactJS compares directly with other technologies. As can be seen, as compared to other frontend technologies like Angular and Vue, React is in a comparable range.
It is only slightly lower than technologies like React Native and NodeJS, which are both around $50.
